United Way of Monmouth County's 13th annual "Spring Tee-Off" will be held May 18 at Hollywood Golf Club, Ocean. All proceeds will go to the support of the 69 health and human services the United Way currently funds. It will feature an array of prizes and awards in both male and female categories including low calloway, longest drive and nearest to the pin. Hole-in-one prizes, a super 50/50 raffle and silent auction will be held in conjunction with the event. The cost per golfer is $350.00. (down from $475.00 last year) and includes golf carts, player gifts, locker room facilities, a luncheon, practice range and putting green, course refreshments, a cocktail reception, dinner and awards. Sponsorship opportunities still available include; luncheon, cocktail hour, putting green, practice range, hole flag and tee sponsors. The New Jersey Cynder will hold its annual tryout/evaluation session for prospective football players over the age of 18 at 7 a.m. May 17 at Westside Park in Newark. The Cynder play in the Big North East Football Federation (www.bneff.com), an AA football league headquartered in Mount Vernon, N.Y. The tryout will include a 40-yard dash, short-shuttle run, L-drill and various other positional drills.
