'Archaeological Journey' Oct. 11

Monmouth University (MU), West Long Branch, has announced Dr. Richard Veit, associate professor of anthropology, will speak at the symposium "An Archaeological Journey at Point Breeze," 1:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at Divine Word Missionaries, 101 Park St., Bordentown, site of Joseph Bonaparte's estate from 1816-44.

Veit's students have unearthed the remains of Bonaparte's house and more than 10,000 artifacts. Guided tours of the grounds will be given from 10 a.m.-noon, followed at 1 p.m. by several guest speakers including Bordentown Mayor John W. Collom III, Dr. Thomas Pearson, provost at MU, and His Excellency, Pierre Vimont, ambassador of France to the United States. Artifacts excavated at Point Breeze will be displayed, along with items from the Peter J. Tucci Collection, Bordentown Historical Society, Burlington County Historical Society, and Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc.
