Funding approved for various borough projects

WEST LONG BRANCH — Borough officials have given the green light for a series of capital improvement projects throughout the town.

The Borough Council unanimously passed an ordinance at its bimonthly council meeting last month to allow for the appropriation of $753,125 to fund various projects in West Long Branch.

Borough officials authorized the issuance of $715,469 in notes or bonds to finance a portion of the cost of the projects, according to the ordinance.

The projects include a $125,000 renovation at borough hall and a $250,000 roadway repair at Cooper Avenue, Slocum Street, Thompson Street, West Street and Summers Avenue.

Borough officials also authorized the installation of concrete curbs and sidewalks along roads within the town at a cost of $62,500.

Remaining funds will be used to acquire various pieces of equipment for the borough's police, fire and public works departments, including $98,125 for the acquisition of a fire hose, turnout gear and a thermal imaging camera for the fire department, according to the ordinance

The borough's police department is also expected to receive a mobile vision digital video system.
