3 charged for drinking underage

OCEAN TOWNSHIP - Three individuals under the legal drinking age were arrested by township police last week following a motor vehicle stop.

On June 20 at approximately 2:08 a.m. Ocean Township Police Officer Jason Lester was on patrol when he observed a 1998 Chevy make an improper lane change on West Park Avenue as it traveled west across Route 35, according to police reports.

Lester subsequently initiated a motor vehicle stop and observed a bottle of vodka on the back seat, according to reports.

The driver, identified as Mae I. Frankenberger, 20, of Bloomfield, was found to be driving while intoxicated and under the legal age to consume or possess alcoholic beverages, authorities said.

Two passengers in the vehicle, identified as Anastasia Maleshev, 19, of Caldwell, and Gilbert O. Flores, 20, of Bloomfield, were also found to be under the legal age to consume or possess alcoholic beverages.

As a result of the stop, all three were charged with possession of alcohol while under the legal age.

Additionally, Frankenberger was charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane and driving while intoxicated, authorities said.

Flores was also charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to reports.

The three charged were taken into custody and transported to the Ocean Township Police Department for further processing. They were all later released on criminal summons.
