Thrift shop to benefit programs at hospital
Once Again Thrift Boutique set to open in Eatontown next month
BY CHRISTINE VARNO Staff Writer

The Monmouth Medical Center Foundation's Once Again Thrift Boutique is set to open in June on Main Street in Eatontown.
LONG BRANCH - The Monmouth Medical Center Foundation is embarking on a new endeavor to raise funds to support the hospital.

The foundation will open its first thrift shop, called the Once Again Thrift Boutique, the first week of June on Main Street in Eatontown.

"We really wanted to add to the way we raise money for the hospital," Tiffany Cioffi, manager of retail operations for the foundation, said.

"One way we never tried is a thrift shop," she said, adding, "It is another way to get the community involved in helping to raise funds for Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch.

"All the proceeds we raise will directly benefit the hospital," she said, explaining that the revenue will be used to support programs and services at the medical center.

The thrift boutique will be located in an old Victorian house on Main Street, sandwiched between Perkins and Dunkin' Donuts and located across the street from Fort Monmouth.

The store will offer high-end clothing for all seasons and for every age group, as well as accessories like belts, scarves, handbags and jewelry.

The boutique will also offer toys, books, small pieces of furniture and home-decor items, Cioffisaid.

"We are trying to be an upscale boutique," Cioffisaid, "so we will have items that are in good to excellent condition."

The foundation is seeking donations of clothing and household items to stock the store, as well as volunteers to staff the shop.

"We are reaching out to the communities we serve to tell residents that their donations are greatly appreciated and go to a good cause," Cioffisaid. "Community members also can show their support for the shop by volunteering to staff the thrift boutique."

The boutique will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with Thursday hours extending to 8 p.m. The store will also be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

"We really value the support of community members who donate their items to our thrift boutique," Cioffisaid, explaining that donated items are tax deductible.

"We appreciate

the dedication and commitment of volunteers who give freely of their time to help us ensure that Monmouth Medical Center remains the region's premier health care facility," Cioffisaid.

The foundation is a nonprofit group that raises funds to support Monmouth Medical Center. The foundation is located on the premises of Monmouth Medical Center on Second Avenue.

The foundation is in the process of launching a Web site for the thrift boutique. Anyone seeking more information about the store, volunteering or how to make a donation may call Cioffiat (732) 923-6886.
