Area students win 'Fair Housing Poster Contest'

Monmouth County's Fair Housing Board and the Board of Chosen Freeholders has announced the 25 winners of the annual "Fair Housing Poster Contest."

First-prize winners of $200 U.S. Savings Bonds wereAllison Cronin, Gabriella Crupi and John Hurley, St. Jerome Catholic School, Long Branch; Nicolas Palermo, Woodmere Elementary School, Eatontown; and Emily Sgro, Monmouth Beach Elementary. Honorable mention winners of $100 U.S. Savings Bonds were Michael Burkard, St. Jerome Catholic School; Andrea Herman, Monmouth Beach Elementary; and Gabriel Pereira, Long Branch Middle School.

All artwork will be featured in a 2009 calendar honoring National Fair Housing Month, during April. The grand-prize artwork will adorn the cover, each of firstplace winners will be paired with a different month, and honorable mentions will be featured on one page over the month of January 2010.
