School district to offerWOWsummer program

LONG BRANCH- The Long Branch Public Schools systemis offering theWide Open World (WOW summer enrichment camp program to students living in the city this summer.

The camp will be held from July 7 throughAug. 15, and children who attend the free camp will be encouraged to develop their creative abilities, according to a press release from the school system.

Programs are designed to help children enhance their understanding of science, math, history and the arts, while having fun. Throughout the day, children will participate in hands-on, interactive activities that encourage creativity and inventive solutions.

The days will be filled with academic and athletic activities that will challenge and reward the students, according to the release.

The school system will offer summer camp programs for elementary students starting at age 3 and going up to middleschool age students.

The school district will use the triad systemduring the camp program.All children will receive 90 minutes of academic, arts and crafts, and athletics each day. Using a rotating system, campers will have three different teachers each day so that they may participate in a variety of activities in each component of the triad.

Swimming is a big part of summer, and campers will have the opportunity to swim in the Monmouth University pool, at Turkey Swamp Park, and at the Fort Monmouth pool. Nature trips are scheduled, with fishing, nature walks, seeing animals in the wild, a boating tour of the Manasquan Reservoir, and paddle boating.

Other activities will include team sports such as soccer,Wiffle ball, kickball, volleyball, tennis, flag football and hockey.

Fun events planned for the students include parachute games, Frisbee events, relays, scavenger hunts and tag.

The programwill take place in the airconditionedAmerigoA. Anastasia School, the Gregory Elementary School and the Joseph M. Ferraina Early Childhood Learning Center.

All children who attend the camp will receive a free t-short, free breakfast and lunch and campers who have a perfect attendance will attend a field trip to Six Flags Great Adventure. The preschool camperswith perfect attendancewill have an ice cream party festival.
