SICA brings 'Sculptoure '08' to Long Branch

LONG BRANCH- The Shore Institute of the Contemporary Arts (SICA) will start installations this week of the sculptures in its second annual urban sculpture park, "Sculptoure '08." The event will run from May 10 through Oct. 14.

"Sculptoure '08" will begin with an allday festival on May 10, titled "SCULPT: A Celebration ofAll Things Chiseled, Shaped, and Formed."

Broadway Center, a mixed-use arts and entertainment retail and residential project on lower Broadway in Long Branch, is sponsoring the event's official guide, which will map the artwork sites throughout the city.

"Over the years, SICA has done a tremendous job in attracting top-quality artists to Long Branch," said Todd Katz, Broadway Center's managing partner. "Unique art events like "Sculptoure '08" are setting the stage for the remarkable renaissance of Long Branch, as we all work together to transform our city into a Jersey Shore premier cultural destination. "

SICAwas founded in July 2000 as a nonprofit corporationwhose purpose is to establish a uniquely stimulating and creative environment inwhich to experience the contemporary arts. The goal of SICA is to increase the general public's accessibility, awareness and appreciation of the contemporary arts in New Jersey.
