Man faces charges of providing beer to minors

OCEAN TOWNSHIP - A township man is being charged with attempting to provide alcohol to minors following a motor vehicle stop near Asbury Avenue.

On March 20 at approximately 7:50 p.m., police pulled over a vehicle for a faulty taillight, according to police reports, which state that there were four occupants in the car.

During the stop, police found a 30-pack of beer in the rear of the vehicle, and one of the passengers in the car was trying to hide a bottle of vodka between his legs, according to reports.

Further investigation revealed that one of the car's occupants, Bobby Willard, 21, of Ocean Township, had allegedly purchased the beer and vodka for the other occupants in the car.

The occupants in the car included a 17- year-old male driver, and a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, according to reports.

Willard was charged with providing alcoholic beverages to persons under the legal age and was later released on a criminal summons, authorities said.

The three juveniles were charged with possessing alcoholic beverages while under the legal age and were released to the custody of their parents, authorities said.
