Police arrest 12 for underage drinking

OCEAN TOWNSHIP - Police arrested 12 juveniles last week after receiving an anonymous call about a loud party taking place at a Wickapecko Drive residence.

Officers responded to the home on March 20 at approximately 10:18 p.m. and heard loud music playing at the residence and yelling and screaming coming from the garage area, according to police reports.

Police observed 12 partygoers under the legal drinking age at the home and found numerous empty beer cans and partially consumed cups of beer throughout the residence, authorities said.

Police arrested the 17-year-old male resident of the home and additionally arrested eight 16-year-old males, a 15-yearold male, a 14-year-old male and a 17-year-old female.

Danielle Russo, 18, of Ocean Township, was also issued a summons for consuming alcoholic beverages on private property while under the legal age and was released at the scene, according to police reports.

The 12 juveniles were charged with consuming alcoholic beverages on private property while under the legal age and were later released to their parents, according to police reports.

The 17-year-old resident of the home was also charged with violating a township noise ordinance, authorities said. Charges are also pending against the resident for making available property where persons under the legal age can consume alcoholic beverages.
