Two men face life in jail for murder in boro
Police arrest 3 suspects for shooting murder of an Eatontown man

EATONTOWN - Two men are facing life behind bars for the shooting murder of an Eatontown man.

A third juvenile male is facing up to 10 years in a juvenile correctional facility in connection with the murder.

Police arrested Kenneth M. Bacon- Vaughters, 18, of Asbury Park, on March 26 and arrested Tahj Jaheed Pines, 22, of Neptune, and an 18-year-old Neptune man, who was 17 years old at the time of the incident, on March 27.

The men are being charged with the March 11 murder of 23-year-old Nathaniel Louis Wiggins of Eatontown, according to a press release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

If convicted of felony murder, Bacon- Vaughters and Pine face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. The pair also faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in jail if convicted of armed robbery, authorities said.

If convicted of felony murder, the juvenile faces a maximum potential sentence of 10 years in the Jamesburg Training School for Boys and an additional four years if convicted of armed robbery.

Bail for Bacon-Vaughters is set at $2 million and bail for Pines is set at $2.5million. Both men are being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold Township.

Due to his age at the time of the offense, the third suspect is being charged as a juvenile, according to reports. He is currently being held at theMonmouth County Youth Detention Center, Freehold Township.

A joint investigation into the murder was conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and the Eatontown Police Department.

According to reports, the three suspects traveled to Wiggins' apartment in Eatontown on March 11 with the intention of robbing him.

Once at the victim's apartment, two of the three suspects exited the vehicle and approached the residence, while the third suspect remained in the car to facilitate a quick getaway, authorities said.

The two suspects that exited the vehicle had a brief confrontation with Wiggins at the door and then one of the two men shot Wiggins one time, authorities said.

The two suspects ran from the apartment and entered the vehicle and fled the scene.

Eatontown police responded to the scene of the crime after receiving a 911 call reporting shots fired at the apartment. Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered Wiggins bleeding on the floor of his apartment.

Wiggins was transported to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he died as a result of his injuries, authorities said.

Police additionally charged Bacon- Vaughters' mother, Sheree Bacon, 51, of Neptune, who is an employee of the Monmouth County Division of Social Services, with one count of fourth-degree obstructing the administration of law, authorities said.

Bacon was charged after authorities learned that she took steps to impede the police investigation into her son's involvement in the murder. She was released on a summons on March 26, authorities said.
