Students at the Morris Avenue School in Long Branch are learning what it takes to design and create decent and affordable houses for people around the world. Students in Tracy McMahon's kindergarten class participated in the Habitat for Humanity paper house campaign and built and designed their own houses after conducting research on the Internet. "By the Sea, By the Beautiful Sea" will be presented by Friends of the Monmouth Museum June 9 at 11 a.m. at Monmouth Beach Bath & Tennis Club, Ocean Avenue. The program and luncheon will feature a performance about the Jersey Shore by Charleen Blevins of the South Street Players, Freehold, and local actors. Fashions will be provided by Le Papillion, Rumson, and art by Dick LaBonté will be displayed. Tickets are $60 for nonmembers, and $50 for members with proceeds benefiting the museum's educational programs. For reservations, call themuseumat (732) 747-2266.

The Long Branch City Council is scheduled to host a public meeting on April 8 at 8 p.m. at city hall on Broadway to establish a Plan Endorsement Advisory Committee. The committee will guide the municipality through the Plan Endorsement process.

The Township of Ocean Environmental Commission is hosting a "Spring Nature Walk" on May 4 at 1:30 p.m. at Joe Palaia Park. The walk will start at the White Building in the park on Whalepond Road, and participants are asked to bring cameras and binoculars.

TheMonmouth County RegionalHealth Commission will host a health blood screening programMay 14 from8 to 10 a.m. in the SCAN offices at the lower level at Monmouth Mall.

The blood chemistry test will cost $34, occult blood test is $36, and the prostate cancer test is $32. Preregistration and prepayment is required. To register call (732) 493-9520 Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Checks can bemade payable to MCRHC and mailed to 1540 West Park Ave., Ocean, NJ 07712.

Patients must fast from midnight until the nurse draws the blood specimen - no juice, coffee or tea.

The Greater Township of Ocean Democratic Club, encompassing Ocean, Allenhurst, Interlaken and Loch Arbour, is scheduled to meet on April 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the West Park Recreation Complex on West Park Avenue in Oakhurst. The meeting will be followed by a presentation by Anna Little. She is a former Monmouth County freeholder and the currentmayor of Highlands.
