Park system's free activities begin April 5

Monmouth County Park System will offer free activities at Historic Longstreet Farm, Longstreet Road,Holmdel, beginning with a quilting demonstration April 5 from 1-3 p.m.Hand-sewn pieceswill be on display.

Music Man Rich Marzec will perform tunes from the turn-of-the-century April 13 from 1-3 p.m. A blacksmith demonstration will also take place from1-3 p.m.Arug hooking and braiding demonstrationwill beApril 19 from 1-3 p.m. Wool Days and sheep shearing will be April 26-27 from noon to 3 p.m. Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center, Georgia Tavern Road, Howell, will hold an Earth Day open house will be April 19 fromnoon to 5 p.m. at. Itwill feature birdhouse building, reptile shows, recycled crafts, and several local environmental groups.

A spring perennial plant swap will be April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Deep Cut Gardens, Red Hill Road, Middletown. Attendees may bring plants in 1 quart or 1- or 2-gallon containers and take home the same size and number of plants. (no annuals).
