 | | Pope John XXIII students recently donated 60 Easter baskets to children associated with Our Lady of Providence Church, Neptune. Each class from grades pre-K to eight donated a specific itemfor the baskets, and the fifth grade gathered donations and worked as a team to make the baskets. Students work on service projects throughout the year. |
| An AARP tax aide program is now under way at Monmouth Beach Cultural Center, 128 Ocean Ave., through April 15. Marjorie Collins will assist residents in preparing federal and state tax returns, N.J.Homestead Rebates, andN.J. property tax reimbursement forms. Clean OceanAction will hold its 14th annual flounder tournament April 5 at Bahrs Landing, Highlands. A blessing of the waters and breakfast will be held at 9 a.m., the flounder weigh-in will be held 3-5 p.m., with an awards ceremony at 5 p.m. The event is free to all ages.  | | The Jewish Community Center's Axelrod PerformingArts Center, 100 Grant Ave, Deal Park, will present Joe Piscopo celebrating the music of Frank Sinatra June 25 at 8 p.m. The New Jersey resident will pay tribute to the music of the legendary Frank Sinatra, and be accompanied by the New Jersey Jazz Allstars with Art Topilow on piano. Piscopo joined Saturday Night Live in 1980, starred in several films, and has been on Broadway as disc jockey Vince Fontaine in "Grease." Central Jersey Young Professionals, UnitedWay ofMonmouth County will hold "Mardi Gras 2008" March 29 at 7 p.m. at Ross's Dockside, 1400 Ocean Ave., Sea Bright. The event will feature a four-hour open wine and beer bar, favors, hot and cold appetizers, carving and pasta stations, a chance auction and a 50/50 raffle. Cocktail attire is requested. Wegmans Food Markets' Ocean and Manalapan locations raised $83,408 for the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Neptune, during the stores' annual Check Out Hunger campaign. Customers and employees at the stores statewide were asked to donate $2, $3 or $5 at the checkout from Sept. 30-Dec. 15.
