The Rev. Dr. John Deegan

The Rev. Deegan, 83, of Monroe, formerly of Red Bank, Eatontown, Shrewsbury, Union and East Brunswick, died Dec. 15, 2007, in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. An ordained minister since 1949, he served with Kearny Assembly of God, Shrewsbury Assembly of God, Irvington Assembly of God and East Brunswick Assembly of God for 24 years prior to his retirement in 1992, when he was named pastor emeritus of East Brunswick Assembly of God. He founded Cornerstone Christian School, East Brunswick, in 1985. Surviving are his wife,Margaret Pignataro Deegan; three sons, John Deegan Jr. of Aberdeen, N.C., Timothy Deegan of Oak Park, Calif., and Robert P. Deegan of Monroe; a daughter, Margaret J. King of Palm Harbor, Fla.; a brother, Daniel De- Pasquale of Elizabeth; a sister, Elizabeth Pisciotti of Flemington; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services were held at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church of the Assembly of God, East Brunswick. Interment was in Rosedale Memorial Park, Linden. Memorial contributions may be made to The Rev.
