Man sought in sex-assault attempt

WEST LONG BRANCH - The borough Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in tracking down the suspect in an attempted sexual assault.

The police have released a composite drawing of a man suspected of offering a ride to a female in the area of the Belmar Train Station after the St. Patrick's Day parade on March 2, according to police reports.

The subject reportedly drove the female to West Long Branch and then attempted to sexually assault her. Police said the female fought off the suspect and in the process might have scratched his face.

The suspect is described as a white male between 30 to 40 years old. He is approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, has brown hair and a fair complexion.

Anyone with information is asked to call the West Long Branch Police Detective Bureau at (732) 229-5000.
