YMCA receives funds for Strong Kids campaign

The Community YMCA (CYMCA) received a $1,000 sponsorship from RSI Bank, Pier Village, Long Branch, in mid- February. Funds were contributed to the Y's annual Strong Kids campaign to benefit YMCA child achievement programs and black/Hispanic achievers program in the area. Child achievement after-school programs are at Betty McElmon Elementary School, West Long Branch, and The Salvation Army building in Asbury Park.

The Long Branch Black/Hispanic Achievers began in 2007 in partnership with the city of Long Branch and Teen Jump Off, to involve and encourage youth in grades six through 12. The Black/Hispanic Achievers is a national YMCA program that teaches college readiness and encourages leadership skills, good values and a sense of self.

For more information about the child achievement programs, call (732) 747- 4426 or visit www.TheCommunityYMCA. org. For information about black/Hispanic achievers or teen leadership programs, call (732) 671-5505, ext. 16.
