Call to artists for Sculptoure The Shore Institute of the Contemporary Arts in Long Branch is seeking submissions for the second annual Sculptoure, an urban sculpture park throughout the city. "Sculpture for Day Laborers" by Dahlia Elsayed Outdoor sculpture will be placed throughout the downtown area of the city of Long Branch, the promenade along the ocean and in Pier Village plus locations in the uptown and West End sections of the city. There will be more than 60 outdoor locations for the installation of outdoor sculpture, such as parks and open spaces, sidewalks, boardwalks and the sides of buildings for relief sculpture. Artists are being solicited nationwide to compete to have their work displayed. Maps showing the specific locations where the works will be located will be available at SICA, 20 Third Ave., as well as other locations. Information about the artists as well as information about the site sponsors will also be available on the Web site, www.sica.org. The grand opening of the urban sculpture park is planned for May 10 and will be held in conjunction with an allencompassing sculpture festival called "Sculpt!" "Tentacle Waving" by Amy Felton-Toth Feb. 29 is the deadline for submissions, and the selected artists will be announced March 15. The outdoor exhibition will run through Oct. 14. SICA's mission is to increase the public's accessibility, awareness and appreciation of the contemporary arts in central New Jersey.
