Alleyne, Johnson win SC track gold
Monmouth Regional's Edrick Alleyne added the Shore Conference shot put title to his Monmouth County crown on Saturday.

Alleyne's 55-6 heave in the Bennett Indoor Complex in Toms River won the SC Indoor Championship's shot put title by 3 feet over SouthernRegional'sChase Petrucci (52- 6 ½). It was Alleyne's best throw of the winter season.

Long Branch sprinter Damier Johnson reversed the order of finish from the county meet in the 55-meter dash coming out on top with his 6.42.

Aweek earlier,Neptune'sMichael Peavey beat Johnson to the line for the county title. In Saturday's rematch, it was Johnson who stopped the clock first, creating a rivalry that should play itself out in the comingweeks at the state championships.

Peavey would win gold, however, taking the 200-meter dash in 23.09. The 200will not be contested at the state championships though.

Ocean Township's JohnAlesiwas sixth in the 400 (52.34) from an unseeded section. Rumson-Fair Haven's Alex Smith tied for fifth in the high jump (6-0).

For the girls, Rumson-Fair Haven's Melissa Bellin took third in the 400 (58.21). TheBulldogs 4x400 relay teamthat featured GabrielleKelly,ChristinaRoque, JaimeCarroll and Bellin, turned in a 4:11.32 and took third.

The Bulldogs' Samantha O'Brien was third in the 1,600 (5:22.66) and fifth in the 800 (2:25.55).

For Ocean's girls, Suhail LaVecchia took third in the shot put (38-8). Hannah Boyce andVictoria Schroeter both cleared 4-10 and tied for fifth in the high jump.
