Peter N. Beckett

Mr. Beckett, 78, of Middletown, died Jan. 14, 2008, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Liverpool, England, he relocated to the United States in 1965 and resided in Hazlet before relocating to Middletown in 1972. Mr. Beckett was a marine surveyor for Crawford Company Marine Surveyor from 1965 until his retirement in 2002. Prior to that, he was a captain for Blue Funnel Line in Europe, the Far East, Australia and the United States from 1947 to 1963. He was a treasurer and deacon at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Middletown. He was predeceased by his wife, Jane Beckett, in 2005. Surviving are two daughters and one son-inlaw, Nadine and Patrick McCafferty of West Long Branch, and Tess Ames of Carrolton, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Eglie Beckett of London; and three grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Westminster Church. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
