Police break up college parties; five arrested
Police issue 44 township ordinance violations to underage partygoers

OCEAN TOWNSHIP - Five Monmouth University students are facing charges for allegedly serving alcoholic beverages to underage individuals at parties held in residential neighborhoods in the Oakhurst section of town.

Police arrested and charged Dustin Coleman, 22, of East Greenwich, R.I., Randall Hadzor, 21, of Lafayette, N.Y., and Steven Wendruff, 20, of Toms River on Jan. 26 with providing alcoholic beverages to persons under the legal age and violating a township noise ordinance, according to police reports.

Police received a noise complaint and a report of a possible fight in the area of Jerome Avenue at approximately midnight on Jan. 26, according to reports.

Upon arriving at the scene, police observed a party taking place at the Jerome Avenue residence, which is being rented by Coleman, Hadzor and Wendruff. All three males are students at Monmouth University.

Further investigation by police revealed that underage drinking was taking place at the party, and officers found numerous partially consumed and empty beer cans throughout the house, according to reports.

Police issued township ordinance violations to 12 attendees of the party for consuming alcoholic beverages on private property by persons under the legal age, according to police reports.

Two other Monmouth University students were arrested on Jan. 30 after they hosted a party at their Norwood Avenue residence where alcohol was allegedly served to underage individuals, according to police reports.

Police observed a large group of individuals standing outside a Norwood Avenue residence on Jan. 30 at approximately 2:30 a.m., according to reports.

Police also found two empty beer kegs in the back of the house and numerous partially consumed and empty beer cups throughout the house, according to reports.

One partygoer, an 18-year-old female, was taken to the hospital for alcohol poisoning, according to reports.

The house is being rented by Monmouth University students Joseph Pepe, 21, of Stirling, and Peter Cardella, 20, of Belmar.

Both males were arrested and charged with providing alcoholic beverages to persons under the legal age.

Police additionally issued township ordinance violations to 32 partygoers for underage drinking on private property, according to reports.
