Alleyne, RFH sprinters win county track titles When it came to back it up at Saturday's Monmouth County Indoor Championship at the Bennett Indoor Complex in Toms River, Alleyne did. The Golden Falcon was the only thrower to exceed 50 feet, as his winning fling of 54- 2 was 7 feet farther than runner-up Paul Puller ofMiddletownNorth (47-2).Alleyne's teammate Charles Johnson was third (46- 4). Alleynewas the only area track and field athlete to strike gold in Toms River, but he wasn't the only winner. Rumson-Fair Haven's girls captured the 4x400 relay after an exciting duel with Shore Regional. The Bulldogs' quartet of Melissa Bellin, Jaime Carroll, Leigh Ann Torcivia and Caitlin Britton turned in a 4:12.33 to Shore's 4:12.78. Individually, Bellin ran second to Marlboro's Ada Unachukwu in the 400 as both sprinters dipped under 1:00. The Mustang flash posted a 59.20 while Bellin stopped the clock at 59.59. Carroll finished fourth in the 800meters (2:22.72). Fromthe unseeded section, the Bulldogs' Samantha O'Brien finished sixth after winning her heat in 5:22.57. Rumson's girls scored 23 points and finished seventh. Colts Neck won its third straight title with 48. Shore Regional was fifth (25) led by its 4x400 team of Jamie Pointer, Kaylee Mikolon, Ali Grandinetti and Cameo Kirk. Pointer was also third in the 55 hurdles (9.06) and sixth in the 55-meter dash (7.85). Cameo took third in the 400 (1:01.70). In the field, ChristieWisnieskiwas third in the shot put (32-9 ½). Red Bank Catholic's girls used their distance stars to finish eighth (22). In the 800, Molly McNamara was third (2:22.47) and Kate Rochford was fifth (2:26.32). In the 1,600, Janine Louie was third (5:18.10), and in the 3,200, Michelle Capozzi (11:48.18) and Emily Rooney (11:55.76) were third and fifth. Ocean Township's Hannah Boyce (5-0) was second in the high jump, and teammate Victoria Schroeter tied for third (4-10). Nia Williams was fourth in the shot put (32-0). For the boys, Monmouth Regional was fifth (20.50). Perennial kingpin Christian Brothers Academy won with 61.50 points. In addition to the one-three in the shot put, the Golden Falcons' 4x400 team was fourth (3:41.18). Shore Regional pole-vaulter Sean Kelly tied for second at 12-6. The winning height was 13-0 by Matawan's John Bartlett. Kelly's teammate Matt Bersteman tied for third in the high jump (5-10). Red Bank Catholic freshman Kevin Byrne announced his arrival as a player with his third place in the 1,600 meters (4:34.86). Long Branch's Damier Johnson was second in the 55-meter dash (6.49). Red Bank Regional received fifth places from Mike Kolodziej in the 1,600 (4:35.94) and Matt Merlitz in the 3,200 (9:55.99). Ocean's John Alesi tied for fourth in the 400 (52.74) and Spartan teammate Zach Moyle tie for sixth in the high jump (5-8). Tomorrow, it's back to Toms River for the Shore Conference Indoor Championships. |
