Area restaurants will be offering a culinary tasting as part of the "Taste of the Shore" event on Feb. 11 at the Sheraton Eatontown from 6-10 p.m. The event is being hosted by St. George Greek Orthodox Church and will benefit the parish's building fund for a new complex to be built in Ocean Township. Tickets for the event cost $75 and for more information or to reserve a ticket, call (732) 775-2777.

The Monmouth Beach Cultural Center on Ocean Avenue will be hosting the art exhibit "Beauty … people, places, things" from Feb. 20 through March 8. The exhibit features paintings by Denise Weiner. The public is also invited to attend an artist reception planned for Feb. 22 from 7-9 p.m.

The St. Vincent DePaul of Holy Trinity on Prospect Street in Long Branch is holding a clothing drive on Feb. 9 and Feb. 10. New, unwrapped toys and clothing, shoes, handbags, belts, scarves, ties, hats, bedding, curtains, tablecloths, towels and stuffed animals can be dropped off at the parish hall on Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Feb. 10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Monmouth University in West Long Branch is scheduled to hold the 3rd annual "Jewish Culture Program Film Series and Cultural Events" series in the Wilson Hall Auditorium on the university's campus on Feb. 7, Feb. 19 and March 12.

On Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. two films, "The King's Daughter" and "Be Fruitful and Multiply," will be presented. On Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. composer Mark Zuckerman will present "In Search of Yiddishkeit," a musical odyssey of Jewish exploration and self-discovery. On March 19 at 7:30 p.m. the film "To Take a Wife" will be presented. All events are free and open to the public.

The All Neighbors Foundation, based in Long Branch, is scheduled to present an "Intercultural Community Talent Show" in celebration of Black History Month on Feb. 16 from 7-10 p.m. at the Seashore Elementary School on Broadway.

The Coastal Monmouth Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse is scheduled to hold prevention unification meetings at 11 a.m. at the Monmouth Medical center in Long Branch on Feb. 13 and March 3.

••••• Monmouth University in West Long Branch and the Two River Film Festival is presenting a film screening of "Black Orpheus" tonight at 7 p.m. in the Pollak Theater on the university's campus for the "Latin American Realities" festival. Another film screening of "State of Fear: The Truth and Terrorism" is scheduled to be held on Feb. 22.

The St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Asbury Park is hosting the "Taste of the Shore" on Feb. 11 at the Eatontown Sheraton. The event will feature food from more than 25 area restaurants, as well as a silent auction and hourly 50/50 raffle.

The Shore Regional Little League is accepting player registrations for its 2008 season. Registration is available to any child in at least second grade, between the ages of 7 and 16 as of April 30, 2008, and has a legal guardian residing in Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Sea Bright or West Long Branch. Games begin in April and are held on weekday nights and on Saturdays.

The Long Branch Senior Citizen Center, 85 Second Ave., has a food program available to seniors in the community age 60 or older who are registered members of the center. Homemade lunch priced at $4 is prepared each Tuesday and Thursday at noon at the center, which is also seeking volunteers to assist with lunch preparation.
