Police charge 30 youths with underage drinking

OCEAN TOWNSHIP - An anonymous call to township police led to the arrest of 30 people for underage drinking at a house party near the Monmouth University campus.

Another three men are facing charges for providing the alcohol at the party, according to police reports.

At approximately 11:44 p.m. on Jan. 11, police received an anonymous call about a Lake Avenue residence, according to Ocean Township Detective Lt. Steven Peters.

The unidentified caller stated the address of the house and hung up the phone, according to police reports.

At the scene of the residence, Police Officer Daniel Weber observed a large party taking place at the house, according to police reports.

Police arrested and charged Daniel T Black, 20, ofAtlantic Highlands, Daniel R. Bate, 20, of Milburn, and Matthew G Rossine, 20, of the Lincroft section of Middletown with providing alcoholic beverages to persons under the legal age, according to police.

The three men, who are students at Monmouth University and are renting the Lake Avenue house, were also issued a summons for excessive noise violation, according to police reports.

The three men were released on criminal summonses, according to reports.

Police arrested and charged 30 attendees of the party with underage drinking, according to reports, which state that three 17-year-old females at the party were taken into protective custody.

Due to their young age, the females were not charged and released to the custody of their parents, according to reports.
