Woman drives car across Ocean Twp. school field

OCEAN TOWNSHIP - A Bayville woman is facing drunken-driving charges after driving across aWayside School field and crashing into a wooded area.

Ocean Township police arrested and charged LeeAnn Nastasi, 47, with driving while intoxicated on school property, reckless driving and possessing an open alcoholic beverage in a vehicle at 4:35 p.m. on Jan. 8, according to police reports.

Wayside School Principal David Enderly said he observed a woman driving a vehicle in the wrong direction on a oneway driveway at the Wayside School on Bowne Road, according to reports.

The vehicle was traveling at a slow speed around the school's parking lot through the bus drop-off area and striking several curbs along the way, according to reports.

The vehicle was then driven west out of the parking lot, across the school field and crashed into a wooded area, according to reports.

Police Officers Timothy Macom and Kathleen Delanoy arrived on the scene and found Nastasi in her car, according to reports, which state that the accused was uninjured and "highly" intoxicated.

The officers also found Nastasi in possession of an open liquor bottle in her vehicle, according to reports.

Nastasi was taken to Jersey Shore UniversityMedical Center, Neptune, for a blood alcohol test, according to police reports.
