Police uncover $3,700 worth of stolen goods

| OCEAN TOWNSHIP- Three individuals are being charged in connection with the theft of approximately $3,700 worth of merchandise from aWest Park Avenue Rite Aid store and surrounding retailers.
According to police reports, PaulWint, 22, of Queens,N.Y.,WilliamSmith, 26, of Elizabeth, and a 15-year-old male of Brooklyn, N.Y., were arrested Dec. 27 after a Rite Aid employee witnessed four individuals enter the store and steal various items.
The items reported stolen included razors, several DVDs and packaged over-thecounter medications, according to police reports.
Wint is being charged with resisting arrest, possessing stolen property, conspiracy to commit shoplifting and possession of less than 50 grams ofmarijuana, according to reports.
Smith is being charged with resisting arrest, shoplifting and possession of stolen property, according to reports.
Smith also had an active warrant for his arrest out of Millburn and was taken to the Monmouth County jail in Freehold Township, where he is being held on $35,000 bail, according to police reports.
The 15-year-old suspect is facing charges of shoplifting and resisting arrest, according to reports.
The suspects had fled the store after stealing several items and drove off in a Chevy Tahoe that was waiting in the rear of the store, according to police.
The driver of the Tahoe turned the vehicle onto West Park Avenue and struck the rear of a tow truck stopped at a traffic light, according to reports.
Police officers TrevorDickerson andAlon Bercovicz arrived at the scene of the accident and witnessed four individuals exit the Tahoe and run in the direction of Kings Highway, according to reports.
The driver of the Tahoe drove away, and the vehicle was later found abandoned in the area, according to reports.
The 15-year-old male was apprehended by police after he was found hiding under a truck in the parking lot of Seaboard Welding Supply, and Smith was found hiding in a small amount of brush behind the Janet Photography Studio, Ocean Township Detective Lt. Steven Peters said last week.
Wint was located in the Towne Shopping Center, hiding behind aDumpster, according to Peters, who stated that Wint was also found to be in possession ofmarijuana.
The three suspects were arrested at the scene and transported to the Ocean Township Police Department for processing.
Two other individuals suspected to be involved in the crime, remain at large, according to police reports.
The two unknown suspects are said to be in their late teens to early 20s and were last seen wearing dark jeans and jackets. They are believed to have fled on foot north along Kings Highway, according to reports.
Upon further investigation, police found 102 DVD movies valued at over $2,700 located in the Tahoe, according to reports.
Police also uncovered numerous over-thecountermedications and personal care items, valued at approximately $1,000, in the vehicle, according to reports.
Police believe that the recovered items were stolen fromRiteAid and other retail locations in the area, according to reports.
