Council names new Zoning Board members

WEST LONG BRANCH - The BoroughCouncil appointed newmembers to the Zoning Board ofAdjustment in the wake of the recent resignations of five members and the attorney of the board.

The new board members were appointed to the Zoning Board posts at the Jan. 1 reorganization meeting held at borough hall on Broadway.

Council appointed Jose Villa, Christopher Raddatz and John Penta to serve three-year terms ending in 2011. Council also voted to make board alternates Douglas Bostwick and Ellen Anfuso fulltime members of the board.

Anfuso will serve the remainder of an unexpired term ending in 2008, and Bostwick will serve the remainder of an unexpired term ending in 2010.

Among the members who retired their seats are Chairman Rocco Christopher and Secretary Irven Miller Christopher and Miller were among the boardmembers criticized by the Borough Council and a group of West Long Branch residents after the board granted approval to Monmouth University to expand its campus into a residential zone in the borough.

The resignations by the board members were announced at the Dec. 13 Zoning Board meeting.

In addition to Christopher andMiller, Vice Chairwoman Judy Wortman and board members Gordon Mast and Samuel Guidetti also retired from their seats.

BoardAttorney ThomasKlein also resigned fromhis post. The council had not appointed a board attorney as of press deadline Tuesday.
