Man arrested on drug charges after car crash
Tinton Falls man faces drunken-driving charges after head-on collision

OCEAN TOWNSHIP - A Tinton Falls man is facing several drug charges following a head-on collision on Deal Road.

Karlton D. Meyers, 42, of Tinton Falls, was traveling east on Deal Road at approximately 7:12 p.m. on Dec. 8 when he lost control of his 2002 Chrysler and collided with the front end of a 2003 Toyota that was traveling west on Deal Road, according to Ocean Township Detective Lt. Steven Peters.

After the collision, Meyers' car proceeded to sideswipe a 2004 Dodge pickup that was traveling west on Deal Road, according to Peters.

Both drivers of the Toyota and the Dodge were uninjured and a 2-year-old passenger in the Toyota was taken to Monmouth Medical Center as a precautionary measure, Peters said.

Meyers was found to be intoxicated and talking on his cell phone at the time of the accident, according to Peters, who said that cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana were also found in Meyers' vehicle.

Meyers, who suffered a minor facial injury during the accident, was arrested and taken to Monmouth Medical Center where he was subjected to a blood test.

He is being charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession drug paraphernalia and driving while intoxicated.

Meyers was also issued traffic violations for possessing drugs in a motor vehicle, consuming an alcoholic beverage while in a motor vehicle, possessing an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and using a cell phone while operating a vehicle, according to Peters.

Bail was set at $25,000 and Meyers was taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold, according to reports.
