Gunshots heard after high school football game

OCEAN TOWNSHIP — Police are seeking information from the public after gunshots were fired after a football game at Ocean Township High School last week.

On Oct. 10, at approximately 9:05 p.m., as spectators were departing the football game, gunshots were heard coming from the front parking lot of the Ocean Township High School, according to police reports.

A football game between Ocean Township High School and Long Branch High School had just concluded and a large crowd was in the process of departing from the game when the gunshots were heard, authorities said.

Officers on duty at the game immediately responded to the area where the gunshots were believed to have originated, but did not find anyone with a gun or obvious evidence that a weapon was fired, according to reports.

No one was reported injured and the Ocean Township Criminal Investigation Bureau is currently conducting an investigation into the alleged shooting.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about the incident to call the Ocean Township Police Criminal Investigation Bureau at 732-531-1800.

Police also took three juveniles into custody and arrested three adults during three separate incidents involving fights following the football game, according to reports.

The first incident involved a 16-yearold male from Neptune who was found to be in possession of two folding knives after police broke up a fight among several teens in the front of the high school, according to reports.

The teen was charged with unlawful possession of a knife. He was later released to a parent.

A second incident took place just outside the high school parking lot on West Park Avenue where two 17-year-old males from Ocean Township were taken into custody for fighting. The two were charged with disorderly conduct and were each later released to a parent.

Police also broke up a third fight after the game in front of the high school. Police arrested Christian D. Hall, 20, of Asbury Park, and Byron K. Young Jr., 21, of Neptune. Each was charged with disorderly conduct and later released on a criminal summons.
