Garden photos by a 'late bloomer' Photographing nature is an outgrowth of Ann Mary Sage's passion for tending her garden. "Red Fox" "I am an avid gardener and that is how my interest in photography began," explained the lifelong Shrewsbury resident and self-described "late blooming nature photographer." Sage's first solo exhibit of her nature photographs, "Creatures Great and Small," will be at the Eatontown Public Library through November. "Initially, I wanted to document my gardens, including the animal and insect life I found there. I have a big fascination with insects, and though this particular exhibit only includes a few insect photos, they are one of my favorite macro subjects," said Sage, who is a recreation program coordinator for the Monmouth County Park System at Dorbrook Recreation Area in Colts Neck. "I also enjoy bird-watching, and have many bird feeders and houses in my yard, as well as a bird bath, which attracts many interesting and willing subjects. I rarely go anywhere anymore without at least my digital point-andshoot." "Bumblebee" Sage is a member of both the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury and the Art Alliance of Red Bank. Her exhibit is on display at the library, located at 33 Broad St., Eatontown. Hours are: Monday & Wednesday 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. and 7- 9 p.m.; Tuesday & Thursday 2-5 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturday 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
