Runaway caught by Ocean police

OCEAN TOWNSHIP - A 24-year old township man was taken into custody last week after being a wanted fugitive for escaping from a halfway home in October.

On Nov. 6 at approximately 10:50 a.m., police arrested Outtama Thavone following a motor vehicle stop on Willow Drive, according to police reports.

Thavone had escaped from the Northern State Prison's Kintock Halfway House on Oct. 8 and police had learned that he was living in an Ocean Township residence.

Police officer Bryan Morgan observed Thavone operating a car and arrested him for being a wanted fugitive, according to reports.

Police then conducted a consent search of Thavone's apartment and uncovered a small quantity of suspected Ecstasy pills and two small bags of suspected marijuana, according to reports.

Thavone was additionally charged with possession of Ecstasy and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, according to reports.

Police also discovered that there were two outstanding contempt of court warrants for Thavone, including a $100 warrant from Loch Arbour and a $300 warrant from Wall Township, according to reports.

Thavone was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institute in Freehold Township.
