Fort invites public to 90th anniversary Fort Monmouth will mark its 90th anniversary the week of Nov. 5 through 8. The week-long celebration culminates on Thursday, Nov. 8, with the 90th Anniversary Festival on Greely Field.
The festival will begin with Fort Monmouth's annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. with the Commandant of West Point, Brig. Gen. Robert L. Caslen Jr. as guest speaker. The ceremony will take place at the World War II Memorial on Greely Field.
The festival will include civilian and military displays including armored vehicles, artillery and helicopters; historical military re-enactors from the American Revolution to the present day; a variety of musical acts; kids' rides; skydiving demonstrations and a classic car show. Food vendors will be selling a variety of food and drink.
Rides for children will be open from noon until 5 p.m. The classic car show is scheduled from noon until 4 p.m. and there will be two skydiver demonstrations at 1:15 and 4:15 p.m.
Musical acts will perform under air dome. The entertainment schedule is: 11:30-1 a.m., Cats on a Smooth Surface; 1:30-2:15 p.m., Monmouth Regional High School Band; 2:30-3:15 p.m., Shore Regional High School Players; 3:30-4:15 p.m., Chorus of the Atlantic; 4:30-5:30 p.m., Stealing Jane; 6-7:30 p.m.; Bob Burger Band; 8 -9:30 p.m.; Gary U.S. Bonds, 9:45-10 p.m.
There will be a fireworks display 9:45- 10 p.m.
The festival is open and free to the public; however, attendees should be aware of the following: Attendees must enter the installation through the Oceanport Avenue gate; attendees must be 16 and over must have current photo identification such as a driver's license, passport or school ID; children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian; attendees are subject to search; Department of Defense police and police working dogs will patrol the grounds and control access to the post; no packages, backpacks, coolers, etc. are allowed; strollers and baby bags are allowed but are subject to search.
