Residents displaced by house fire

JOEY BASTELLI A fire at this two-family house may have started in the kitchen of the first-floor apartment.
LONG BRANCH - City police responded to a report of a house fire at a North Fifth Avenue residence Oct.18, according to Detective Sgt. Fernando Sanders.

As officers arrived on the scene, the west side of the house was engulfed in flames, according to police reports.

The structure is a two-family, twostory home and the fire appeared to have originated in the rear kitchen of the first floor apartment.

The three residents were already out of the home when police and fire personnel arrived and a representative of the American Red Cross responded to help the displaced residents.

Two Long Branch firemen were treated at Monmouth Medical Center for smoke inhalation. The fire is considered accidental, but is still under investigation, according to police.
