Student journalism program to begin Oct. 18

Freeholder Barbara McMorrow has announced a student journalism program for high school students with the first meeting Oct. 18 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Hall of Records, Main Street, Freehold.

The program is designed to help students sharpen journalism skills, and students will write an article each month on a variety of topics related to county government. Two representatives from each Monmouth County public high school, and any interested teachers are invited to participate in this pilot program. Participants will have the option to attend public meetings and events. Members of the professional media will speak with students also.

Meetings are held monthly. To register or for more information, call Susan Folta at (732) 683-8837.
