International Foreign Film Series at BCC
The International Center of Brookdale Community College is presenting a special selection of films with global themes.

The scheduled films include:

"Pan's Labyrinth," Wednesday, Oct. 3, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Warner Student Life Center, Paramount TV Lounge (lower level), Guillermo del Toro's academy award winning epic, which is set against the postwar repression of Franco's Spain. The fairy tale-like film, centers on Ofelia, a lonely and dreamy child who creates a world filled with fantastical creatures and secret destinies.

"The Agronomist" Sunday, Oct. 14, 2:30-4:30 p.m., Warner Student Life Center, Twin Lights I Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demmes' heartbreaking documentary presents Haitian human rights activist and radio journalist Jean Dominique, through a series of revealing interviews leading up to his assassination outside his radio station in Port-au- Prince. A panel discussion will follow.

"The Devil Came on Horseback," Monday, Oct. 29, 7-10 p.m., Warner Student Life Center, Navesink Room. The film exposes the tragedy-taking place in Darfur through the eyes of an American witness who served as a monitor with the African Union in Darfur. This account uses photographs and firsthand testimony to bring the viewer in to the heart of Darfur. A panel discussion will follow.

"One Day in September," Tuesday, Nov. 13, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Main Academic South (MAS) building, Room 100. A documentary that presents the story of the massacre of 11 Israeli athletes by a team of Palestinian terrorists during the 1972 Olympics in Munich. Told with actual video shot during the crisis and interviews with those who took part.

"Dr. Strangelove: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" Wednesday, Nov. 28, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Warner Student Life Center Room 103, Monmouth Battleground. Stanley Kubrick's dark comedy about a group of war-eager military men who plan a nuclear apocalypse, with the governments of the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. scrambling to deal with impending annihilation.

Films will be screened at the Warner Student Life Center, Lincroft main campus, 765 Newman Springs Road.
