Temple hosts women's Torah study program
Temple Beth Miriam Sisterhood will host "Connections of the Heart, Mind and Spirit, "a weekend event featuring guest speaker Lynn Magid Lazar Saturday, Oct. 13. Registration fee is $18 and the event is open to the public. R.S.V.P. to the temple office at (732) 222-3754 by Oct. 1.

Lazar, author of "The Torah: a Women's Commentary" which will be published in December, will present a sermon Friday evening, Oct. 12, at Shabbat Services and will lead the Torah portion study on Saturday afternoon.

She is first vice-president of Women of Reform Judaism (WFJ).

Saturday's program will begin at 9 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast. A morning service will be held 10-11 a.m.

A symposium, "The Torah: A Women's Commentary," will be presented 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The presentation includes traditional Torah portion interpretations, women's perspectives, inspired poetry and archeological information regarding the lives

of women at that time.

The schedule includes a break for lunch 1-2 p.m.; a social action project 2-3 p.m.; Israeli dancing demonstration and instruction 3-4 p.m.; and a Havdalah Service at 4:30 p.m.

Women of Reform Judaism is the women's affiliate of the Union for Reform Judaism, the central body of Reform Judaism in North America.
