In the Service Navy Seaman Apprentice David S. Downes, a 2000 graduate of Ocean Township High School, Ocean, has completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. During the eight-week pro gram, Downes completed a variety of training, such as classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and ship board and aircraft safety. An empha sis was also placed on physical fitness.
