The Ocean Township Branch of the Monmouth County Library, 701 Deal Road, presents Your Heart's Desire: Sex and Love in Jewish Literature. The fourth book in this series, "The Lover," by A.B. Yehoshua, will be discussed Monday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Nelly Segal. The programs in the series are free and open to the public. Long Branch has been named one of "20 Great Beaches" in the July issue of Travel + Leisure magazine. The list of the Top 20 beaches was complied after editors sifted through the country's 95,000 miles of shoreline, according to a press release from the oceanfront redevelopers of Pier Village.The TOGS youth group program was started two years ago to promote healthy youth in a healthy community.

The Lakewood BlueClaws will hold their first-ever Karaoke All-Stars Night at the Aug. 29 BlueClaws game at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood. The event will feature amateur singers, selected through karaoke nights at local bars.

The qualifiers will perform on the field in front of celebrity judges from sponsoring radio stations with the winner receiving a series of prizes including the chance to sing the national anthem at a 2008 BlueClaws game.

Each bar will have two singers as representatives in the "Battle of the Bars."

The 14th Annual Monmouth County SPCA Dog Walk and Pet Fair will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, at Brookdale Community College from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The event will include food, music, door prizes, 50/50 raffle, dog costume contest, arts & crafts, police canine unit demonstration, dog agility, dog frisbee champs, doggie wedding chapel, photo ops and shopping with many vendors. Donation is $25 per dog and canines must bring a person. For nondogs, i.e. people unaccompanied by dog(s), donation is $15 and $25 for families/groups (2-4 people).
