Lucy Scialfa Buono
Mrs. Buono, age 94, of Long Branch, died Aug. 17, 2007, at Jersey Shore Center, Eatontown. Born in Gagliano, Sicily, she moved to the United States at age 9, and resided in Long Branch. She was a retired children's sample dressmaker at Bentex Corporation, Freehold. Prior to that, she was a seamstress. She was a communicant of the Church of Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach, and attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. She was a member of the North Long Branch PTA, Long Branch Community Center, and the Active Seniors of Long Branch. She was predeceased by her husband John C. Buono, and a brother, Joseph Scialfa. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Dr. James Fiasconaro of Oceanport, and Joan and Anthony Chidoni of Los Angeles; two sisters, Frances West and Minnie Calcaterra, both of West Long Branch; and four granddaughters. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Church of Precious Blood. Entombment was at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. R. David Billings
Mr. Billings, 54, of Long Branch died Aug. 2, 2007, at Hahnemann University Medical Center, Philadelphia. He was as sistant vice principal at Keansburg High School since 1999. Prior to that, he taught for the Long Branch Public School system, and coached wrestling and softball. He also tended bar at Tuzzio's, Long Branch, the past eight years. He was a member of the Long Branch Zoning Board. His achieve ments include the 1990 Governor's Teacher Recognition Award for Long Branch High School, William Paterson College Distin - guished Scholar Award in 1994, and Long Branch High School Teacher of the Year Award in 1995. He was a member of the Na tional As - sociation of Supervisors and Sec ondary Principals. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Billings; a son and daugh ter-in-law, Jim and Deanna Billings of Wadsworth, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Jeanne Billings of Sparta; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and William Kolesar of Palm Coast, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral ser vice was at First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank- Tower Hill. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Arrange ments were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. Albert Edward Murphy
Mr. Murphy, 77, of Monmouth Beach died July 21, 2007, at home. Born in Jersey City, he resided in the Monmouth Beach and Long Branch area for several years. He was involved in the fiberglass and home-building industry at Knauf Fiberglass Company for 40 years, re tiring in 2000. He served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was a communicant of Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach. He served on a committee in Middletown for the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders. He enjoyed reading, and swimming. He was predeceased by a daughter, Debbie Murphy; two sisters, Edna Quinn and Claire Murphy; and a brother-in-law, J. Donald Rovegno. He is survived by his wife, Patricia E. Murphy; three sons, James Murphy of Keyport, Mark Murphy of Middletown, and Sean Murphy of Norco, Calif.; five daughters, Mari lyn Trachtenberg of Keyport, Janet Lane of West Orange, Caryn Hargrave of Queens, N.Y., Kathleen Riddle of Oldsmar, Fla., and Heather Pohl of Matawan; a sister, Joan Murphy of Red Bank; and seven grandchildren. A memorial Mass was celebrated at Church of the Precious blood. Interment was at Holmdel Mausoleum. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
Frank Sharabba
Mr. Sharabba of Eatontown died July 17, 2007, in Eatontown. He was born in New York. He was a self-employed barber and owner of Marascio's in the Red Bank area. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a life member of Shrewsbury First Aid Squad. He was a former member of the National Barbers Association. He was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn; his wife, Mary; four brothers, Tony, Jasper, Rosario and Joe; and two sisters, Concetta Williams and Frances Rineri. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Debbie Sharabba of Playa del Rey, Calif., and Raymond and Colleen Sharabba of Highlands; two daughters and one son-in-law, Pam and Richard Lillie of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Linda Sharabba of Red Bank; a step daughter, Rosalie Scaccia and her husband, Donald of Dallas; six grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony's Church. Interment was at Mount Olivet Ceme tery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
Lucia P. Vidal
Mrs. Vidal, 91, of Freehold, died Aug. 6, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in the Philippines, she moved to the U.S. in 1972, residing first in Hawaii before moving to Freehold in 1999. Mrs. Vidal was predeceased by her husband, Pedro, in 1961. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Eduardo P. Vidal and his wife, Emily, of Barnegat; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Dr. Erlinda Vidal of Watertown, N.Y., Remedios Guingon and her husband, Norberto, of Parsippany, Glorietta Ishizaki and her husband, Hiroyuki, of Tokyo, Japan, and Cecilia Adie and her husband, William, of West Long Branch; a sister, Paulina Fariñas of Honolulu; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township; interment was private. Christine B. Miller
Mrs. Miller, 80, of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, died July 21, 2007, at Imperial Health Care Center, Neptune. Born in Long Branch, she resided in Brick prior to relocating to Oakhurst 25 years ago. She was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. She was predeceased by her hus band, Louis J. Miller Jr.; and a brother, Gordon. She is survived by a daughter, Su - san MacDonald of Oakhurst; a sister, Jean Strokes of Pennsylvania; and a grand daughter. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch.
