Search warrant leads to three arrests

LONG BRANCH - The Long Branch Street Crimes Unit executed a search warrant that resulted in the arrest of two city women and a Red Bank man.

On July 27, the police unit arrested and charged Susan Gilliard, 44, and Latanya Gilliard, 24, both of Rockwell Avenue, and Michael Bradley, 36, of Red Bank, with possession of heroin.

The three suspects were also charged with possession with intent to distribute, distribution within 500 feet of public housing and distributing drugs within a school zone.

Bradley and Latanya Gilliard were released on a summons, according to police reports.

Susan Gilliard was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold, and bail was set at $75,000 with no 10 percent option.

According to reports, the arrests stemmed from the execution of a search warrant at the Gilliards' Rockwell Avenue residence.

As officers approached the second-story apartment building, they observed Bradley exiting the women's unit, according to police reports.

Police said Bradley attempted to jump off the second-story balcony and allege he was also trying to throw away controlled dangerous substance contraband.

In his escape attempt, Bradley's foot became caught in the railing, causing him to fall head first into the walkway below him, according to reports.

He sustained an open laceration to the head and his injuries were later deemed nonlife threatening, according to reports.

The officers then proceeded with the warrant and arrested the two women.
