'Coaching Invitational' slated for Aug. 24-26 The Monmouth Conservation Foundation will sponsor the "Monmouth Coaching Invitational" Aug. 24-26 in the Rumson and Navesink areas, with final events at Monmouth Park Racetrack, Oceanport. Co-sponsors are ReRun, the national thoroughbred rescue league; the New Bolton Veterinary Center at the University of Pennsylvania; the National Four-in-Hand Cub; New York Coaching Club of carriage owners and drivers; New Jersey Thoroughbred Breeders Association; Monmouth Park; and the Monmouth County Park System. The last event of this kind was on Aug. 24, 1901. It will feature more than 12 antique coaches with each drawn by four horses, and coachmen from states such as Florida, Colorado and Massachusetts. It will also feature drives down local roads, a benefit concert by jazz artist John Pizzarelli, benefit luncheon, presentation of coaches at the racetrack, and a dinner-dance gala.
