ADA regulations remain the same

Thanks for the article by Christine Varno in last week's Atlanticville, "Borough seeks grant for accessibility projects."

Councilwoman Barbara Ruane is wrong, though, when she says, "When the ramp was first constructed, it was ADA [Americans with Disabilities Act] compliant, but there are different regulations now."

The ramp regulations have not really changed since the ADA was passed in 1990. If the ramp is not ADA-compliant, it was not built to specifications, and the town should question their original engineer and contractor.
