Army Reserve Pvt. Lori L. Lugos has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. A 1998 graduate of Long Branch High School, she is the daughter of Bonnie Weber of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township.

Army Pfc. Demetrius L. Dasher has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. A 2005 graduate of Monmouth Regional High School, Tinton Falls, he is the son of David Dasher of Eatontown.

Army National Guard Pvt. William C. Hartig has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. A 2001 graduate of Red Bank Regional High School, Little Silver, he received an associate's degree in 2002 from Valencia Community College, Orlando, Fla. He is the son of Ann Hartig of Fair Haven.

Daniel M. Aurigemma has received an Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) college scholarship offer to attend a selected host college or university. Cadets are selected based on comprehensive tests, high school scholastic achievement, and extracurricular activities. The estimated value of the scholarship depends on the student's choice of school and type of scholarship offered. Upon graduation from college and completion of the ROTC program, the cadet will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force. A 2007 graduate of Raritan High School, Hazlet, he is the son of Mildred A. and Joey D. Aurigemma of Hazlet.

Petty Officer 1st Class (E-6) Jerry Rose of Union Beach, currently stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, was recently promoted to his current rank. He monitors communications. He is also a recipient of the Navy Achievement Medal for outstanding performance on the submarine USS Tennessee. He is the son of Donna Rose, Union Beach.
