The 10th annual "Motorcycle-only Cruise Night" will be held June 23 from 6-9:30 p.m. on Broadway between Washington and Myrtle avenues. The event is being presented by Harley-Davidson/Buell of Long Branch, and live music will be played on two stages at Washington and Martin streets.

Let's Get Knitty, a program for people who enjoy knitting and crocheting, will be held at the Ocean Township Branch of the Monmouth County Library, 701 Deal Road, Monday, July 2, at 7 p.m. Come meet other knitters, share ideas, and practice new techniques. There is no charge.

On June 2, Custom One Hour Photo, Middletown, helped raise much-needed funds for the Monmouth County SPCA's new building fund.

Photos were taken by Arthur Levitt, professional photographer and owner of Custom One Hour Photo.

All proceeds from the photos were donated to the SPCA's new building fund.

According to Ursula Goetz, executive director of the shelter, "The kindness and thoughtfulness of Nan Leonard and Arthur Levitt (who organized the benefit) will make a big difference in the lives of the many needy animals that will enjoy their stay in the newly renovated SPCA Care and Adoption Center.

"The Homeward Bound Capital Campaign is well on its way, thanks to the support of the community. Together we can all make a difference in the lives of the animals."

The Asbury United Methodist Church of Northern Long Branch has installed a "Recognition and Remembrance Tree" in its sanctuary as a fundraising effort to benefit the church's general fund to support it's ministry. The church is selling leaves on the tree to be purchased in memory of a loved one or to honor a special event or occasion in a loved one's life. The Long Branch Concordance (LBC) will host its "Back to Basics" fair on Aug. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Slocum Park, at the corner of Slocum and Broadway in Long Branch.

The LBC welcomes community participation in the family-friendly fair, which will feature fun activities for children, entertainment and food, as well as health screenings for individuals and informational booths explaining family resources and more.

Sponsorships for the fair and all activity booths are available.

The LBC seeks general fair volunteers and participation for the following groups: family and child services providers, health providers, performance groups, entertainers and food vendors.

The Long Branch Free Public Library on Broadway is the recipient of a New Jersey Historical Commission grant in the amount of $12,600. The grant will allow the microfilming preservation project of newspapers, with the Atlanticville, years 2000 through 2006, and The Link, years 2001 through 2006, to begin the project.

The microfilming of the local newspapers is essential to the Local History Room's mission "to collect, maintain and preserve material on local history for the benefit of historians and library customers, now and in the future," according to a press release from the library.

The project consists of microfilming a total of 638 issues of the two newspapers. For more information, call (732) 222-3900. Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Hospice will hold its third annual Hearts of Remembrance Children's Day: A Celebration of Life, Saturday, July 14, at 1100 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls , the VNACJ regional location.

The free grief support camp is open to children ages 6-12 who have experienced the loss of a loved one within the past year. The program includes crafting, planting, scrapbooking, music therapies, story-telling and a visit from pet therapy dogs. The activities are designed to encourage children to express their feelings, share memories, and just have fun. Social workers specializing in bereavement counseling as well as trained volunteers and other hospice professionals, will be available to support and guide the children throughout the day. Parents and guardians are welcome to stay. Supportive counseling and reiki therapy will be available to interested parents and guardians.
