Libraries offer summer programs

The Monmouth County Library system invites super-sleuths and daring detectives to join Get a Clue @ Your Library and participate in a reading club and other exciting library activities.

This summer reading library program is open to young people from preschoolers through young adults.

Get a Clue reading club members are encouraged to investigate spine-tingling mysteries, graphic novels or any enjoyable book, while earning prizes and an invitation to a final event or party.

The program also promotes early literacy skills among young patrons through the Read-To-Me Club. Prereaders listen to books that are read to them by a parent, older sibling or friend.

Several libraries have planned young adult activities inspired by the collaborative summer reading theme for teens - YNK @ Your Library ("You Never Know," for those who don't text). Each MCL library has planned its own offering of Get a Clue activities and events, ranging from literary scavenger hunts to CSI detective visits to a Sherlock Holmes mystery play. Now there's no need to remain clueless.
