Sylvia Laratonda Garippo

Mrs. Garippo, 85, of West Long Branch, died May 27, 2007, at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch. Born in Pittsburgh, she resided in Asbury Park prior to relocating to West Long Branch 53 years ago. Mrs. Garippo was a homemaker. She was a founding member of St. Jerome's Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch, where she was active in the Rosary Altar Society. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis; and a sister, Nancy Lucia. She is survived by two sisters, Vinnie Cittadino of West Long Branch, and Josephine Giglio of Richmond, Va.; her children, Joanne Garippo and her husband David Adair of Salisbury, N.C., Louis and Judy Garippo of West Long Branch, Michele Mullin of Eatontown, and Jonathon Garippo and his wife Maggie Stone of West Long Branch; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be held June 1 from 2-4 p.m., and 7-9 p.m. at Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered June 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Jerome's Church. Anthony Telonidis

Mr. Telonidis, 74, of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, died May 26, 2007, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was the oldest living intestinal transplant recipient in the world. Born in Eressos, Greece, he immigrated to the United States after World War II. He was a teacher in the Neptune Township School District for 36 years, retiring in 1995. He was also a teacher of English as a second language at the Asbury Park Adult Evening High School the past 37 years. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Chryssanthe Karagrigoriou Telonidis; a son and daughter-in-law, Taki and Jacqueline Telonidis; two daughters and one son-in-law Denise and Frank Parlamas, and Julia Telonidis; and five grandchildren. A funeral service will be held June 1 at 11 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Asbury Park. Interment will follow at St. George Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Neptune. Dorothy L. Abbott

Miss Abbott, 90, of West Long Branch, died May 26, 2007, at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she resided in the Shore area the past 55 years. She was a statistical analyst with Ernst & Young, New York City, for 25 years, retiring in 1980. She was a communicant of St. Jerome's Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch. She was predeceased by two sisters, Rachel Abbott and Florence Buffa. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Anthony Buffa Sr. of West Long Branch; a nephew; a niece; and several great-nephews and great-nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Jerome's Church, followed by interment at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. Mrs. Marsello, 88, of Long Branch, died May 20, 2007, at home. Born in Elizabeth, she relocated to Long Branch in 1951. She was a parishioner at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, West End section of Long Branch. She was predeceased by her husband, John Marsello, in 1993. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Vincent and Vi Marsello of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; a daughter, Phyllis Marsello of Long Branch; four sisters, Ann Agrios, Grace Conover and Gloria Jannucci, all of Long Branch, and Philomena King of Union Beach; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael's Church, followed by entombment at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch.
