Deadline is June 30 to apply for Audubon kit

The Monmouth County Audubon Society, Red Bank, will offer the "Audubon Adventures" kit for fifth-grade teachers for the 2007-08 year, with deadline to apply June 30.

The program is an environmental curriculum supplement designed to connect students to the natural world. A teacher's guide and four issues (32 copies of each issue) of an informative newspaper are distributed to participating classrooms in October. The title of the 2007-08 kit is "Back from the Brink - Success Stories from the Endangered Species Act." It teaches information about the recovery of the bald eagle, grizzly bear and other species.

Teachers also receive information on the "Great Backyard Bird Count," and teachers that are not members of the National Audubon Society will receive a free annual membership.

To enroll, call Sara at (732) 870-6224 or e-mail thomasin@verizon.net.
