'Hail to Women in Politics' June 1
The Monmouth County Republican Committee and the Monmouth County Federation of Republican Women will honor the 2007 Monmouth County Republican women candidates at "Hail to the Women in Politics!" June 1 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Lincroft Inn, 700 Newman Springs Road. A lifetime achievement award will be presented to former Assemblywoman and Monmouth County Surrogate Marie Muhler. Muhler was elected to the State Assembly in 1975, and served as the number two Republican in the Assembly as Assistant Minority Leader in 1982. She resigned her Assembly seat in 1986, and returned to elected office in 1991 when she won election to the office of Monmouth County Surrogate. The Monmouth County Republican Party has 32 women in 21 towns running this year for elected public office. Local candidates are: legislative candidates District 11, Mary Pat Angelini for assembly; District 12, Assemblywoman Jennifer Beck for Senate; and Caroline Casagrande for assembly; and District 13, Assemblywoman Amy Handlin for assembly. County candidates are Kim Guadagno for sheriff and Claire French for county clerk. Municipal office candidates in 21 towns are: Eatontown Borough, Theresa A. Forbes and Vicki K. Rau for council; Little Silver Borough, Suzanna S. Castleman for mayor; Red Bank Borough, Mary Ellen Bannon and Mary Grace Cangemi for council; Rumson Borough, Joan P. DeVoe for council; Sea Bright Borough, Jo-Ann Kalaka-Adams for mayor and Peggy A. Bills for council. Tickets are $50 per person. For reservations or more information, call Kathleen at (732) 431-6664.
