Obituaries

John J. Hughes

Mr. Hughes, 74, of Long Branch, died April 24, 2007, at home following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in New York City, he resided in Long Branch the past 70 years. He was employed at New York Telephone Company. He served with the U.S. Army in 1954. He was a communicant of Our Lady Star of The Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. He was a member of Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, New York City. He enjoyed fishing, skiing, and the N.Y. Giants. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Mark F. and Mimi Hughes Jr. of Rumson; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Annette H. Hillary of Shrewsbury, and Mary Jane and Peter Moeller of Florida; eight nephews and nieces; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Star of the Sea Church. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady Star of The Sea Roman Catholic Church, 101 Chelsea Ave., Long Branch 07740.

James H. Hollyer III

Mr. Hollyer, 79, of Fair Haven, died May 6, 2007, at home. born in Schenectady, N.Y., he resided in Rumson, and Fair Haven the past 34 years. He was a business executive in the New York and Pennsylvania area. He was a Chief Radio Officer in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II, and circled the globe by age 20. He enjoyed reading, photography, and the arts. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sally Eades Hollyer; four sons and daughters-in-law, William J. and Mary of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Thomas H. and Lisa of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; John W. and Anne of Wallingford, Pa.; and Andrew F. and Diane of Weston, Conn.; a sister, Jane Bills of Williamsburg, Va.; and 11 grandchildren. A memorial service will be May 10 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank - Tower Hill. Arrangements are by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank - Tower Hill, 255 Harding Road, Red Bank 07701; or Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank 07701.

Olga Eitelberg

Olga B. Eitelberg, 87, of Freehold Township died Jan. 10, 2007, at home. Born in Newark, she had lived in South Orange before settling in Freehold Township in 1973. Mrs. Eitelberg owned and operated Town & Country, Maplewood, and was also the store's clothing designer and seamstress. She later owned and operated the Korner Gift and Stationery store, South Orange. She also worked at Silhouette women's clothing store, Freehold. She was a member of the first graduating class of Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts. Olga had a great love of oil painting and the arts. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. Mrs. Eitelberg was predeceased by her brother, Eugene Lipski and a sister, Natalie Sinisgalli. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Alfred Eitelberg of Freehold Township; one son and his wife, Mark and Debbie Eitelberg of Salinas, Calif.; two daughters, Judith Eitelberg of Miami, and Dori Eitelberg of Ocean Township; two grandsons; and two nephews and their families. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. Entombment took place at Maplewood Township Cemetery, Freehold Township. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Central Jersey, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank 07701.

Raymond George Dusko

Mr. Dusko, 69, of Middletown, died May 7, 2007, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Sayreville, he resided in Middletown the past 28 years. He was a regional marketing manager at E.I. DuPont, Parlin and Clifton, for 38 years, retiring in 1993. He served with the U.S. Air Force for 4 1/2 years as a jet mechanic and flight engineer in Laredo, Texas. He coached Lincroft Little League, Lincroft section of Middletown, for several years including two championship seasons. He was a member of the DuPont 25 Year Club. He enjoyed golf, gourmet cooking, and the Yankees. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Vivien Bordick Dusko; a daughter, Dina Dusko of San Francisco; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Elizabeth of Little Silver; two brothers and one sister-in-law, John and Janice Dusko, and George Dusko, all of Sayreville; his mother-in-law, Rose Bordick of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be May 12 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, Sayreville. Arrangements are by Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin.
