Three re-elected to Board of Education are sworn in

Armand R. Zambrano Jr. (l-r), Michele Critelli and Avery W. Grant are sworn in to Long Branch School District Board of Education terms April 24.
LONG BRANCH - Three school board members were sworn in at the Long Branch School District Board of Education meeting April 24.

All three were incumbents and ran unopposed in the April 17 public vote.

The oath of office was administered by Peter E. Genovese III, school business administrator and board secretary.

Michele Critelli, current board president, was re-elected with 529 votes. She will be serving her third term on the board, to which she was first elected in 2001.

Armand R. Zambrano Jr. was also re-elected with 506 votes. Zambrano, who will be entering his fifth term, was first elected in 1995.

Avery W. Grant received 539 votes for the board set he has held since 1998. He will be entering his fourth term as a board member.

During the meeting, board members elected Critelli as president for the 2007-08 year. This will be her second consecutive year in that position. Also re-elected as vice president was Violeta Peters.

Also members of the Board of Education for the 2007-08 year are Joseph E. Sirianni, Mary L. George, Rose M. Widdis, Lucille M. Perez and Lorenzo "Bill" Dangler.
